Iraqi customs display "alcoholic beverages" at a public auction.

Iraqi Customs Authority announced on Sunday the auction of alcoholic beverages in a public sale.  

The authority stated in a statement obtained by "Video News Agency": The Central Region Customs Directorate announces the sale of confiscated and abandoned items (alcoholic beverages) in a public auction, to be held on the upcoming Wednesday and Monday.

It pointed out that "those wishing to buy and participate in the bidding must pay a security deposit amounting to 20% of the estimated value of the items offered for sale, in accordance with the applicable rules and legal instructions.

It is worth noting that alcoholic beverages are often confiscated by security forces at checkpoints, especially in the central and southern provinces.

Liquor stores are largely absent in most provinces of Iraq, and restrictions have also been tightened in the capital Baghdad, leading to smuggling through various means, which are often seized.
