In a swift intelligence operation.. the fall of "Abu Saher," a prominent leader of ISIS in Kirkuk.

The Directorate of Military Intelligence announced today, Sunday, the overthrow of one of the prominent leaders of the terrorist organization ISIS during a pre-emptive operation carried out in Kirkuk Governorate.

The directorate stated in a statement received by "Video News Agency" that "a precise pre-emptive operation resulted in the arrest of a wanted terrorist element under Article (4/1) of the Anti-Terrorism Law, nicknamed (Abu Saher), who is considered a high-priority target for the security agencies."

It added that "the arrest operation came after intense intelligence follow-up that resulted in identifying his hiding location in the district of Yajy in Kirkuk Governorate," indicating that "the raid was conducted in cooperation and coordination between the intelligence department of the 8th Division and the intelligence branch of Yajy."

It pointed out that intelligence information indicates that "the arrested terrorist held several positions in what was called the State of Iraq, as he worked in the Yarmouk Brigade in Anbar Governorate within the Al-Suqalawiya sector, in addition to assuming positions in what was called the Diwan of Services during the presence of ISIS gangs in some areas of Anbar."

The directorate confirmed that "the necessary legal actions have been taken against the accused to refer him to the judiciary in accordance with the applicable laws."
