The leader of the Shiite National Current, Mr. Muqtada al-Sadr, called today, Sunday, for a unified protest to be organized at the same time in schools and universities across Iraq, both public and private, women's and mixed, against the decisions to ban the hijab in some countries and in support of freedom of attire.

Mr. Sadr stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the protest is in line with religious, ideological, and humanitarian interests, and should be organized, peaceful, and last only a few minutes, not conflicting with students' academic schedules, taking place on the morning of next Thursday.

He emphasized that no pictures or flags should be raised during the protest except for the flag of Iraq.
