The Baghdad International Book Fair witnesses a diverse cultural presence that combines literary, intellectual, and historical publications, along with the remembrance of the lives of leaders and martyrs through books, paintings, and artistic works, in a scene that connects cultural memory with the glow of books and reflects the varied interests of the participating publishing houses.
Mohammad Qasem, a volunteer at Tamkeen for Publishing and Distribution, stated that the house's participation in this year's fair represents an exceptional involvement, explaining that it presents about 26 titles that vary between historical literature, resistance literature, critiques of the West, as well as political, intellectual, and cultural books.
Qasem pointed out that the house's participation is based on three main axes, which are represented in new publications, the design and decoration of the pavilion, in addition to the artistic products that the house calls "Art of Resistance," which include images, paintings, manuscripts, and drawings related to symbols, leaders, and martyrs.
He added that books are not the only influential means in shaping awareness, indicating that images and artistic works can also contribute to changing ideas and reinforcing memory; the house's publications include books that address the lives of religious and intellectual figures and leaders in the region, along with works related to resistance.
For her part, Zainab Mohammed, a representative of the publishing houses, clarified that the house is keen to present its latest releases during the fair, along with a collection of books that maintain their presence on sales lists year after year, pointing to novel works including "Granada" by Radwa Ashour and "The Tantouria," as well as novels by Ahmed Mourad, such as "The Blue Elephant" and "Diamond Dust," alongside works by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik, including "In the Mice Corridor" and "1919."
The diversity of titles and pavilions at the Baghdad International Book Fair reflects a vast space that brings together new books and publications that have established their presence among readers, transforming the corridors of the fair into a hub for culture, memory, and art, attracting an audience seeking knowledge across various literary, intellectual, and historical fields.
