The U.S. envoy to Iraq, Tom Barak, praised the completion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq on Wednesday, noting that the opportunity is available for Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi to unite all armed forces under a single state leadership.
Barak stated in a post on the "X" platform, which was reviewed by the "Video News Agency," that "after twenty-three years since the first U.S. troops landed in Iraq, President Donald Trump has completed the process of bringing our forces home, not by withdrawal, but by uniting all aspects of the strategic equation: Baghdad, Erbil, our regional allies, and U.S. interests, into a single strategic picture at a very sensitive moment."
He added, "Americans and Iraqis who have served and sacrificed over the years have made this possible; Iraq, which stands on its feet today, honors their service. With this unification, a door that has been closed for a long time has been opened, which is the opportunity available for Prime Minister Zaydi and the Iraqi people to unify all Iraqi armed forces under a single state leadership, with America considered an ally and not just a military protector."
Barak emphasized, "It requires complex political acumen to move an extremely critical part of a massive regional dilemma that is still seeking its algorithms."
