Baghdad – The Iraqi General Union of Writers and Poets held a literary session today, Sunday, featuring Syrian poet Mervat Al-Ali, which was moderated by poet Ibtehal Blybl. The session highlighted her literary experience and included readings of several of her texts.
Al-Ali told the news agency that her writing experience varies between children's literature and satirical short stories, noting that her in-depth reading of the Holy Quran has helped her grasp the rules of the Arabic language and use them proficiently in her literary works.
Speaking about writing for children, she explained that she writes for them because there is a child inside her that doesn’t want to grow up, along with her desire to address what is currently being written for children.
Al-Ali emphasized that satirical literature does not mean insulting others; rather, it represents street literature that reflects the pulse of society and expresses its issues and the details of daily life.
