Pakistan and China have signed a new agreement to enhance trade exchange and expedite the movement of goods through the Sust–Khunjerab border crossing by launching a dedicated fast customs corridor for agricultural products and related goods.
The agreement was signed between the customs administrations of the two countries during a virtual meeting hosted by the Federal Board of Revenue in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.
The agreement stipulates that shipments meeting the criteria will be prioritized in customs processing and inspection procedures, as well as enhancing the exchange of information and alerts concerning risks, and expediting the transit of perishable agricultural products.
A government statement reviewed by the news agency indicated that the agreement aims to improve the efficiency of trade exchange and develop coordination between the customs institutions of the two countries, facilitating the movement of goods through the Khunjerab Pass that connects northern Pakistan with China's Xinjiang region.
This agreement is part of the efforts by both countries to expand economic and trade cooperation and develop the infrastructure of border corridors, which enhances the smooth transport of goods and supports bilateral trade flows.
