North Korea launched several projectiles towards the East Sea today, Wednesday, in a new step within its ongoing series of military tests, amid escalating tensions with the United States and South Korea.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff in South Korea said the projectiles were fired from the Sun Dock coastal area in eastern North Korea, confirming that military authorities are continuing to analyze their nature, specifications, and flight range in coordination with the United States.
This new launch follows days after missile tests conducted by Pyongyang, which included the firing of about 12 short-range ballistic missiles, as well as tests of cluster munitions and other missiles, as part of its military activities escalation this year.
The development coincided with statements from Kim Yo-jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who ruled out holding meetings with Washington amid the ongoing what she described as U.S. hostile policy, confirming that abandoning this policy is a prerequisite for any dialogue.
In contrast, South Korean authorities stated they are monitoring military movements in Pyongyang and that their forces remain ready to deal with any potential developments or provocations.
