Iraq achieved first place in the World University Weightlifting Championship, securing three gold medals and breaking the world record in the over 116 kg weight category.
The head of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority and the president of the Iraqi University Sports Federation, Salah Al-Fatlawi, stated in a statement followed by the Video News Agency that the result reflects the advanced level reached by Iraqi university sports, praising the efforts of the athlete, the coaching staff, and the Iraqi delegation in achieving this accomplishment.
For his part, the head of the Iraqi delegation, Ahmed Abd Al-Jabbar, confirmed that winning first place and breaking the record were the fruits of intense technical and training preparations that preceded the participation, pointing out that the achievement underscores the ability of Iraqi students to compete vigorously in international championships and secure advanced positions.
On his part, the national team's coach, Mustafa Saleh Mahdi, explained that a continuous training program was prepared for participation, which contributed to raising the level of readiness and achieving the required performance, indicating that the results achieved reflect the development witnessed by university weightlifting in Iraq.
