The Maysan Police Command announced today, Sunday, the arrest of an arms dealer and the seizure of 14 Kalashnikov rifles and hundreds of rounds in the Qalat Salih district in the southern province.
The command stated in a statement received by the "Video News Agency" that "a joint force from the Iraqi army within the Maysan Operations Command, the South Maysan Criminal Investigation Department, and the Qalat Salih Police Department were able to arrest an arms dealer after a security operation targeting his activities in arms trafficking."
It added that "the operation resulted in the seizure of 14 Kalashnikov rifles, 690 Kalashnikov rounds, 120 GC ammunition rounds, 11 Kalashnikov rifle magazines, 6 GC rifle magazines, and 3 pistol magazines, which were found inside the suspect's house."
It also noted that "the suspect admitted during the investigation to engaging in arms trafficking," confirming "his detention and the referral of the seized items to the relevant authorities to complete the necessary legal procedures against him."
