The members of the Foreign Affairs and National Security Committee of the Iranian Shura Council approved today, Sunday, the mandatory use of the full name "Persian Gulf" in all missions, treaties, agreements, publications, and related documents, as well as in communications with the fleet and ships.
Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy of the Shura Council, stated in a statement reviewed by the news agency that the members discussed during the meeting the leading action plan to secure safety and continue development in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, and they agreed on Article 10, which requires judicial authorities' approval for the establishment and operation of communication, information technology, and fiber optic infrastructure in the strait.
He added that the committee approved Article 12, which stipulates the mandatory use of the full name "Persian Gulf" in all specialties, agreements, publications, documents, and communications related to ships and fleets.
Qashqavi continued that Article 13 concerning regulations related to the ships' side of the Strait of Hormuz is still under study, noting that parliamentary bills require approval from the Shura Council in a general session and ratification by the Guardianship Council to become law.
