Inclusion of the Norej Haji Jirgis Al-Ulya Water Canal in the World Heritage Register of Irrigation Facilities

The Ministry of Water Resources announced the inclusion of the Kahriz Naroj Hajji Jirjis Alia in Kirkuk Province in the World Heritage Register for irrigation facilities, during the proceedings of the 26th International Conference and the 77th Executive Council meetings of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), held in Marseille, France. The ministry stated in a statement received by the news agency.
This achievement embodies the efforts of the Ministry of Water Resources and its interest in preserving heritage water facilities and highlighting their historical and engineering value, as well as reflecting the richness of Iraq's water heritage and the traditional experiences and knowledge it possesses in water management.
