The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency of the Ministry of Interior announced today, Monday, the dismantling of a "dangerous" criminal network involved in the manipulation and forgery of customs transactions to conduct massive foreign currency transfers abroad that harm the national economy.

The agency stated in a statement received by "Video News Agency" that accurate intelligence reports indicated the presence of the criminal network, and a task force was formed. After ongoing investigation and monitoring, they located the house used by the network to organize transactions and conduct manipulation away from the eyes of security and oversight agencies.

It confirmed that six members of the network were arrested, one of whom is a branch manager of a private bank, and another is an employee of the Customs Authority, who collaborated with customs brokers to manipulate the money transfer system and customs clearance data by providing forged documents and papers in Basra Governorate.

It pointed out that the statements of the accused were recorded, and they explicitly confessed to committing these criminal acts, which included forgery and manipulation of documents and data, and altering descriptions of goods to complete massive financial transfer operations amounting to 150 billion Iraqi dinars for the benefit of commercial companies in exchange for financial gains. The accused have been referred to judicial authorities to receive their just punishment.
