The acting U.S. ambassador to Baghdad, Stephen Fagan, confirmed today, Monday, that any threat to Iraq's security is a threat to everyone.
A statement received by "Video News Agency" from Barzani's headquarters stated that "the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, received, today Monday, in Erbil, Ambassador Stephen Fagan, the acting U.S. ambassador to Iraq."
During the meeting, Ambassador Stephen Fagan expressed his "happiness to return to Iraq once again on a new mission and to visit the Kurdistan Region," affirming "the determination to maintain the pace of work and provide more."
He emphasized "U.S. support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to ensure security and stability and to develop the economy," explaining "the necessity of coordination among the parties to preserve Iraq's sovereignty and strengthen its relations with regional countries and the international community."
He clarified that "any threat to Iraq's security constitutes a threat to everyone, and that Iraq, along with the Kurdistan Region, can play an active role in this regard," noting that "the United States supports a Iraq free of armed militias outside the authority of the government, to allow for political and economic stability."
For his part, Barzani affirmed that "the Kurdistan Region will always remain a factor of stability," pointing to "supporting the efforts of the Iraqi Prime Minister and succeeding in issues related to establishing stability, the Iraqi constitution, and combating terrorism, alongside continuing to assist in the fight against corruption and determination to continue this joint work."
Regarding the situation in the region, Barzani stressed that "peace is always better than war, dialogue is better than confrontation, and understanding is more effective than conflict and chaos, therefore, the Kurdistan Region is always part of the solution and has never been part of the ongoing regional crises in the area."
