The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, welcomed the new Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, Ambassador Stephen Fagin, this Monday afternoon, congratulating him on assuming his new responsibilities and wishing him success in his mission, while reaffirming the region's full readiness to support him and ensure the success of his tasks.
During the meeting, according to a statement issued by the region's presidency, received by the "Video News Agency," the discussions focused on relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the United States, ways to develop joint cooperation in various fields, in addition to the internal situation in Iraq, the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue.
The new Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy expressed his appreciation for the role of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq and the region, emphasizing the importance of stability and strengthening his country's relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all areas.
The meeting also addressed the support of the Iraqi federal government, the importance of limiting weapons to the state, as well as the internal situation and the significance of consensus and unity in the Kurdistan Region, and the latest developments in the region.
