Security Council: The political solution is the only way to achieve stability in Yemen.

The members of the United Nations Security Council called on the Yemeni and regional parties to engage constructively in the United Nations' efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement for the crisis in Yemen, with a halt to military escalation.

The Council urged, in a unified press statement, the parties to cease reciprocal military operations and return to the path of negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations, affirming that the political solution is the only way to end the conflict and achieve stability in the country.

This stance follows a series of emergency sessions held by the Security Council in September to discuss the deteriorating situation in Yemen and the escalating threats in the vital waterways surrounding it, amid international warnings of an expanding confrontation and its regional implications.

The Council reaffirmed its support for the UN efforts aimed at reducing tensions, and called on all parties to avoid steps that could undermine the chances of calming down and resuming the political process.
