The Kirkuk Agriculture Directorate launched today, Wednesday, 500 thousand fingerlings of carp into the waters of the Little Zab River in the town of Taza, north of the province, with the aim of developing fish wealth, enhancing natural resources, and supporting food security in the province.
The release was carried out under the direction of Kirkuk Agriculture Director Zuhair Ali, supervised by the head of the Animal Wealth Services Department and the head of the Tuna Koubri Agriculture Division, and in the presence of several officials in the town and fish farmers.
Kirkuk Agriculture Director Zuhair Ali stated in a press interview, which the "Video News Agency" reviewed, that "the release of these quantities of carp fingerlings is part of the Directorate's efforts to develop fish wealth and preserve water and natural resources in the province."
He added that "the operation aims to increase fish stocks in the waters of the Little Zab, and to encourage fish farmers to develop their activities, which contributes to increasing local production and providing a food source for the population."
Ali pointed out that the Directorate is working on implementing programs to support agricultural, livestock, and fish sectors, and to make use of available natural resources in a way that enhances local production and supports food security in Kirkuk.
