The Kirkuk Police Command announced this evening, Wednesday, the arrest of three women accused of theft and pickpocketing in the province.
The spokesman for the police command, Colonel Amir Al-Shawani, in a press statement obtained by "Video News Agency," stated that the Crime Prevention Office teams managed, within a short time, to apprehend a gang of three women after monitoring several cases of pickpocketing and theft targeting citizens and shoppers in the large market.
He added that the crime prevention teams intensified their intelligence efforts and field surveillance following the registration of these cases, successfully identifying the movements of the accused and setting up a tight security ambush that led to their arrest while committing the pickpocketing offenses.
Al-Shawani pointed out that the accused entered Kirkuk province during the past week and started their activities stealing from citizens and shoppers, indicating that legal measures have been taken against them, and their statements were formally recorded.
He explained that the investigating judge decided to detain the three accused under the provisions of Article (446) of the Iraqi Penal Code and referred them to the relevant judicial authorities to complete the legal procedures.
