Ashraf Hakimi officially referred to trial on charges of rape.

The Court of Cassation, the highest judicial authority in France, confirmed on Wednesday the referral of Moroccan football player Achraf Hakimi to trial on charges of rape, according to information obtained by Agence France-Presse from a judicial source.

During the World Cup competitions in mid-June, the Court of Appeal in Versailles upheld the referral of the Moroccan international and Paris Saint-Germain defender to trial for allegedly raping a young woman in 2023, which he has denied since the beginning of the legal proceedings. Hakimi appealed to the Court of Cassation shortly after this decision.

A 24-year-old woman reported to the police in February 2023 in the Val-de-Marne area southeast of Paris that Hakimi had raped her.

A police source at the time said the accuser stated that she met Hakimi in January 2023 via Instagram and went to his house in a taxi called by the player.

She alleged that Hakimi kissed her, touched her without her consent, and then raped her.
