Member of the Oil and Gas Parliamentary Committee, Rabi' Al-Moussawi, presented several solutions today, Wednesday, to end the fuel crisis, including increasing local production, preventing smuggling, developing refineries, and reducing fuel consumption.
Al-Moussawi stated in a press interview that "Iraq's daily exports have increased significantly during this period, reaching between two to three million barrels per day, and continue to rise, which is a good thing."
Regarding the fuel crisis, he explained that "addressing it requires cooperation between the Ministry of Oil and the government, through increasing local production of petroleum derivatives and limiting smuggling operations, particularly towards the northern governorates."
He added that among the required measures is "adding hydrotreating and isomerization units to refineries, which contributes to increasing the production of petroleum derivatives and improving the efficiency of local production."
Al-Moussawi pointed out that addressing the crisis is not limited to increasing production, indicating that the government is also required to reduce fuel consumption by supporting and developing public transportation, particularly trains and buses, as well as moving towards importing hybrid cars from reputable companies to reduce the demand for petroleum derivatives.
