The Cabinet referred today, Tuesday, the draft law of the Popular Mobilization Authority to the House of Representatives to be decided upon in accordance with constitutional provisions, which includes organizing the administrative framework of the security institution and acknowledging the sacrifices made by its members. This comes alongside the approval of the draft laws for the Healthcare Department of Internal Security Forces and the Urban and Regional Planning Institute for Graduate Studies and their referral to parliament after being reviewed by the State Council.
The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a statement received by "Video News Agency" that "the Cabinet held its regular twenty-first session under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi to discuss the agenda items and make firm decisions regarding the general situation and service and security projects."
During the session, the council voted on the draft law of the Popular Mobilization Authority and approved its referral to the House of Representatives for a vote according to constitutional provisions, in appreciation of the sacrifices of its members and to organize the administrative systems, in addition to approving the draft law for the Healthcare Department of Internal Security Forces and the draft law for the Urban and Regional Planning Institute for Graduate Studies and referring them to parliament after being vetted by the State Council.
In the housing and services sector, the council approved the sale of specific lands in Nineveh Governorate to the staff of Mosul University, exempting them from public bidding procedures for distribution among them in accordance with the law. The council also approved Baghdad Municipality's contract with the National Center for Engineering Consultations to supervise the provision of consulting services for infrastructure and roads for the New Sadr City project, which includes 11,000 housing units.
The decisions included the council's approval for the General Company for Food Trade to acquire a piece of land in the Peace District to use for its warehouses to secure the food basket and increase storage capacity, in addition to amending the allocations of the General Directorate of Sewerage, and allocating 10% of service fees to the Ministry of Justice for the construction and rehabilitation of judicial building complexes.
In the field of combating corruption and protecting the economy, the council voted to form a committee headed by the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the Jordanian side to establish a joint team that addresses the recovery of Iraqi funds and debt settlement under the terms of the Paris Club, canceling the previous Diwani order committee to have the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinate directly with the U.S. Treasury regarding sanctions and listings. The council also approved the ban on the export of copper, aluminum, lead, and iron metals and their scrap to limit trading them domestically and provide them for national industry.
