The security advisor to the Prime Minister, Qassem al-Araji, stated today, Wednesday, that Iraq is reaching an important milestone by ending the mission of the international coalition and its presence, and transitioning to bilateral relations with its countries, which solidifies sovereignty and serves national interests and the aspirations of the Iraqi people.
Al-Araji said in a statement received by the Video News Agency, "Completing the negotiations and understandings that began on July 22, 2021, in which we had the honor of contributing during our previous responsibility in the National Security Advisor’s office, we reach today an important milestone by ending the mission of the international coalition and its presence, and transitioning to bilateral relations with its countries, which solidifies sovereignty and serves national interests and the aspirations of the Iraqi people."
He added, "Victory over the ISIS terrorist gangs has been achieved through the sacrifices of Iraqis and the bravery of our armed forces in various branches and formations, with support from the international coalition and brotherly and friendly countries, a role we value and appreciate."
He continued: "The end of the coalition’s mission does not mean the end of partnership, but rather a transition to deeper bilateral relations, with continued security and intelligence cooperation, information and experience exchange, and capacity building, based on mutual respect and common interests, which enhances security and stability and supports our people's aspirations for sustainable peace, development, and prosperity."»
