The leader of the Wisdom Movement, Mr. Ammar Al-Hakim, affirmed today, Tuesday, Iraq's keenness to restore relations with neighboring countries following recent events, indicating that Egypt is the elder brother of Arab nations and that there is ongoing communication with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Mr. Hakim stated in a statement monitored by the news agency that Iraq believes in communication with everyone and refraining from engaging in regional axes, pointing out that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries have not withdrawn their ambassadors from Iraq.
He added that the war against Iran had significant repercussions, with solidarity shown for its people against sanctions and a desire to protect the Iraqi people from them, clarifying that the Iraqi people have suffered greatly from sanctions in previous decades, and that some decisions are aimed at safeguarding the Iraqi people from sanctions, not out of spite towards anyone.
He continued that Iraq is the first country to receive a U.S. exception for Najaf Airport to deal with Iran, and that the understanding with the United States has enabled Iraq to obtain facilities for visitors, thanking the Iraqi government and those who helped resolve the air embargo issue, affirming that the relationship between Iraq and Iran is special and that Iraq has special circumstances with understanding some positions of Iranian officials.
He indicated that the behavior of some internal parties has made Iraq a target for accusations, noting that the American messages received by Iraq were very clear regarding the implications of not adhering to the air embargo, emphasizing the need for balance between the requirements of state protection and the feelings of the public.
He pointed out that 84 countries within the international coalition helped Iraq end ISIS, asserting that the day of sovereignty and the conclusion of the work of the international coalition is a message of recovery from Iraq, and appreciated the significant assistance and efforts provided by the international coalition and the support of the participating countries for Iraq in international forums.
Mr. Hakim mentioned that the largest component carries the responsibility of reassuring Iraqi partners, and that coordination and understanding alleviate the concerns of other partners, stressing the need for the country to be managed through genuine partnership, noting that disagreements since 2013 have prevented the legislation of the Federal Court Law.
He clarified that the coordination framework consists of 14 political entities, explaining that the framework's statements reveal only the agreed-upon files, and that the framework does not represent all forces within the largest component, but it is cohesive and has been able to manage the disagreements among its various forces.
