The Meteorological and Seismological Authority confirmed today, Saturday, that satellite images have detected thunderstorm cumulonimbus clouds accompanied by light rain showers in areas of the central region and Nineveh, moving towards Wasit and Diyala.
The authority stated in a statement received by the News Video Agency that the weather condition will gradually diminish tonight, with continued chances of rain clouds forming in the far north of the country tomorrow, Sunday.
It clarified that the winds will gradually shift to a moderate northwesterly speed starting from the western areas tonight and extending to the rest of the cities tomorrow, Sunday, accompanied by a slight drop in temperatures and a break in hot weather, with increased chances of light to medium dust rising, especially in the western, central, and southwestern areas, as well as the desert regions.
It added that the humidity wave in southern cities is expected to recede on Monday morning before rising again on Wednesday evening.
It continued that initial forecasts indicate that the country will be affected by a new rainy weather condition starting Tuesday, October 20, beginning in the central and southern cities, then extending to other areas according to the developments of the situation and updates of weather maps.
