The authorities responsible for rescue operations in Nepal reported today, Monday, that the death toll from the floods has risen to 939, while the number of missing persons ranges from 3,925 to 4,247.
They mentioned that the death toll increased after a devastating landslide loaded with ice, rocks, mud, and debris swept through several mountainous valleys and rivers last Wednesday, causing widespread destruction.
The total number of deaths in Nepal and China has risen to 955, with Beijing earlier announcing that the death toll on its side of the border had reached 16.
Meanwhile, the number of missing persons on both sides of the border has decreased to 4,471, as Nepal reported a decline in the number of missing to 3,925, while China announced that the number of missing individuals reached 546.
