Human trafficking leads 5 defendants to 6 years in prison by a decision of the Karkh Criminal Court.

The Karkh Criminal Court issued a six-year prison sentence today, Tuesday, against five convicted individuals for human trafficking.

The Judiciary Council stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "the Karkh Criminal Court has issued a six-year prison sentence against five convicted individuals for the crime of human trafficking."

 

It was added that "the convicted individual (the mother) attempted to sell her newborn child in collaboration with four women, for an amount of three million Iraqi dinars."

 

It was pointed out that "the ruling was issued against them based on the provisions of Article 6 / First and Fifth of the Anti-Human Trafficking Law No. 28 of 2012, and pursuant to Articles 47, 48, and 49 regarding participation, and referencing the provisions of Article 132 /2 of the Penal Code."
