The club's statement, which I reviewed from the "News Video Agency," said: "Medical examinations confirmed that first-team player Andreas Christensen has a muscle strain in his left thigh, and the timing of his return to training will depend on the pace of his recovery."
Christensen had left the pitch at the "Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan" during the match against Sevilla (1-3) after being affected by the injury in the 58th minute, following a clash with Sevilla player Ruben Oorni. The Danish defender requested medical assistance, and the medical staff recommended that coach Hansi Flick substitute him immediately.
This setback continues the series of struggles Christensen has faced with recurring injuries over the past two seasons, as he missed 32 matches with the club and national team in the 2025/2026 season due to an injury to the cruciate ligament and issues with the calf, after missing 53 matches in the 2024/2025 season due to injuries to the Achilles tendon and recurring muscle problems.
This injury represents a technical loss for the Catalan team, especially since the 29-year-old defender had regained his starting position in coach Hansi Flick's options at the beginning of this season, participating in 7 out of 8 matches played by the team in various competitions.
