Katz in response to al-Sharaa: The Golan Heights is an inseparable part of Israel.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz affirmed on Wednesday that the Golan Heights is "an integral part of Israel" and under Israeli sovereignty.

Katz stated in a comment reported by the "News Video Agency," that "the entire area that we control will remain under our control forever if we are subjected to any attack from Syria." 

The Israeli defense minister continued: "We will not withdraw from Mount Sheik or from the security zone in Syria." 

Katz's statement comes after Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, nicknamed "the Golan," pledged on Wednesday before the United Nations General Assembly that the Golan Heights will remain Syrian land, reaffirming his country's commitment to its sovereignty.

Al-Sharaa stated: "No attempts at facts on the ground can undermine the legitimacy of our state and the sovereignty of our law and the applicability of international law, for the Golan will remain Syrian land."

He emphasized that "all annexation measures are void and nullified by the force of Security Council Resolution 497" issued in 1981, which deemed Israel's decision to annex land in the Syrian plateau as null and void.

Al-Sharaa explained that "Israel continues its incursions, airstrikes, and aggressions against Syrian territory," demanding that Israel withdraw from Syrian lands.
