Data from the Turkish tobacco sector showed today, Monday, that Iraq ranked third among the largest importers of Turkish cigarettes during the first eight months of 2026, with a value of 49 million dollars, after the United States and Syria.
Suleiman Cemi, head of the Aegean Tobacco Exporters Association, told "Video News Agency" in a press interview that Turkey's exports of tobacco and its products increased by 8% last year to 1.110 billion dollars, while cigarette exports amounted to 361 million dollars during the first eight months of 2026.
Tobacco leaf exports also rose by 41% to 279 million dollars, while shisha tobacco exports reached 58 million dollars and cigarette tobacco exports amounted to 43 million dollars.
Belgium topped the list of Turkish tobacco importers with 58 million dollars, followed by the United States with 52.5 million dollars, then Indonesia with 15 million dollars, while the United States led the list of cigarette importers with 54 million dollars, followed by Syria with 53 million dollars, and Iraq in fourth place with 49 million dollars.
