Iraq reaffirms its international commitment to resolve the issue of the missing Kuwaitis.

Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein confirmed today, Monday, Iraq's commitment to UN Security Council Resolution No. (2792) of 2025 and its ongoing constructive cooperation to resolve the issue of missing persons and Kuwaiti properties with full transparency and responsibility.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the Al-Fvideo news agency that Minister Fouad Hussein met with Mari Yamashita, the Senior UN Secretary-General's Representative for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution No. (2792) of 2025, where he expressed Iraq's appreciation for the efforts she has made since her appointment, affirming the continued cooperation with the United Nations, the State of Kuwait, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Tripartite Committee to achieve tangible results.

It added that the two sides discussed the latest developments related to the issue of missing persons and Kuwaiti properties and the efforts being made at the political, technical, and operational levels, noting that the minister emphasized that Iraq has done and continues to do everything possible to reveal the fate of the missing persons and to locate their remains, expressing the readiness of the relevant authorities to continue cooperation and complete the joint field tasks.

The two sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination at the highest levels of transparency and accurately identifying the materials and archives that need to be searched for to effectively direct efforts, highlighting the role of the UN representative's office in facilitating communication and overcoming obstacles.

Yamashita expressed her gratitude for Iraq's cooperation and her eagerness to convey Baghdad's positions to the Kuwaiti side during her upcoming visit to Kuwait to complete this file.
