Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, during his meeting today, Monday, with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, emphasized the necessity of developing and strengthening bilateral relations between Tehran and Yerevan, praising the stances of the Armenian people and government and their supportive actions for the Islamic Republic of Iran during the recent war days and afterward; stating: This solidarity from a neighboring nation has made a good impression and left a positive memory in our minds. The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly congratulated Armenia on the success of the elections and the formation of the new parliament and government in Yerevan; affirming that the fixed policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to develop and enhance relations with neighboring countries on both practical and strategic levels, noting that Armenia undoubtedly represents one of the opportunities for expanding relations with Iran. He expressed hope that the strategic cooperation agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Armenia would soon be completed; explaining that alongside bilateral relations, there are regional issues in the Caucasus area, including transportation corridors, that Iran and Armenia can discuss. Foreign powers' interference causes insecurity in the region. Qalibaf stated that the Caucasus region today needs calm more than ever, and achieving this should be accompanied by reinforcing official borders; adding that experiences have shown that the intervention of foreign powers from outside the region causes insecurity. He cited the Persian Gulf as an example; stating that foreign powers came to the region, and some countries believed that this presence could provide them with security, yet the result was insecurity. He added that these powers only covet the capabilities and potentials of the regional countries and seek to achieve their own interests.

Qalibaf added: These powers only covet the capabilities and potentials of the regional countries and seek to achieve their own interests. He continued, stating: We hope that the exchange of views and sustainable, advanced cooperation between the two countries in the political and economic fields will create opportunities in transit, energy, and other areas, and have a significant effect. Qalibaf affirmed that America cannot be trusted on various issues; pointing out that the Americans have not achieved any of their military goals in confronting the Islamic Republic of Iran and have faced defeat, and they breached their commitments in political matters concerning the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, which further damaged their credibility.

We will not allow the use of Armenian territory against Iran. For his part, during the meeting, the Armenian Foreign Minister described the relations between Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran as strategic, saying: The cooperation between the governments of the two countries will enhance and solidify the relations. Mirzoyan added: Lasting friendships and relationships arise from solidarity and togetherness in facing challenges; indicating that friendship in difficult times contributes to strengthening relations. He continued: The countries in the region have unique potentials in transportation, energy, infrastructure, and other areas; calling for the expansion and enhancement of mutual cooperation. He pointed out that Armenia is working, in this framework, to develop transportation routes with neighboring countries. The Armenian Foreign Minister affirmed that his country would not allow any action against the Islamic Republic of Iran to be carried out from its territory; stressing that the Islamic Republic of Iran's emphasis on the principle of not changing the borders of countries in the region is of great importance to Armenia.
