The meteorological authority confirmed today, Tuesday, that the dust wave affecting several areas of the country will continue for several hours, with a gradual improvement in horizontal visibility expected in the coming hours, while noting that no reports have been received so far about its effects on air traffic. The Director of Media at the authority, Amer Al-Jabari, stated in a press interview that "the country is affected by a dust wave, moving towards the western regions and some central areas, gradually extending towards Baghdad, Najaf, Karbala, and Nasiriyah." He added, "The weather condition is expected to last for several hours, with horizontal visibility gradually improving in the coming hours," calling on "vehicle drivers to reduce speed and avoid overtaking when visibility is low due to dust." Al-Jabari emphasized "the necessity of adhering to the instructions issued by the Ministry of Health, especially for those suffering from respiratory diseases, in addition to the guidelines from the Civil Defense Directorate." Regarding the most affected areas, he clarified that "the central areas, including Baghdad and Karbala, as well as Nasiriyah, will be among those affected," pointing out that "the greatest impact is expected in the western regions and Salah al-Din." Regarding the impact of the dust wave on air traffic and external roads, Al-Jabari confirmed that "no reports or information have yet been received from airport administrations, airlines, or relevant authorities regarding any effects on air traffic," indicating that "visibility is still relatively good so far." He noted that "the authority will issue a weather update regarding the condition and circulate it to ministries and relevant entities."
