The Babil Governorate Police Command arrested two suspects today, Tuesday, caught in the act of arms trafficking and seized two rifles in the jurisdiction of the Al-Rafidain Police Department in northern Babil.

According to a statement received by the News Video Agency, based on accurate intelligence information, the police chief of the governorate, Major General Abbas Hassan Nasser Al-Husseini, directed the formation of a joint security task force under the supervision of the director of northern Babil police, including specialized security detachments from the Al-Ikhā' Police Station and the intelligence department to verify the accuracy of the information and take the necessary legal actions.

The command added that after monitoring, investigation, and gathering information, the team was able to apprehend the suspects in the act and seize two rifles in their possession, and legal action was taken against them, referring them to the relevant authorities.

It continued that this operation comes as part of implementing the directives of the Undersecretary for Police Affairs aimed at enhancing security and pursuing traffickers of unlicensed weapons, and emphasizing the restriction of arms to the hands of the state, contributing to the establishment of the rule of law and enhancing security and stability.
