The federal police have surrounded a group of "ISIS" elements in Hawijah.

An security source in Kirkuk reported this evening, Tuesday, that federal police forces are currently surrounding a group of ISIS members inside the Al-Areesha school, within the Al-Danadish district in the Hawija area, southwest of the province.

The source stated in a press interview that I viewed, "The security forces have cordoned off the school, while continuing their operations to deal with the organization’s members trapped inside."

This operation comes following the attack launched by ISIS members last night on a federal police checkpoint in the Al-Birghliya area within the Al-Danadish district, which resulted in the martyrdom of one police officer and the injury of four others, in addition to the destruction of several thermal cameras at the site.

Federal forces continue sweep operations and search for organization members in the area, coinciding with increased security measures in the region.
