The Civil Defense Directorate in Anbar province has begun to implement a series of precautionary and proactive measures to address the risks posed by rising water levels of the Euphrates River, as part of a field plan aimed at protecting lives and public and private property.

The director of relations and media at the Civil Defense Directorate, Nawas Sabah Shakir, said in a press statement reviewed by the "Video News Agency" that "the directorate has started executing field measures to address the potential rise in water levels of the Euphrates River, which included deploying fire and rescue teams along the riverbanks, and continuously monitoring the watercourse and the river basin."

He added that "the measures also included conducting a field survey of weak and vulnerable areas along the river strip, and working to address them by creating earth embankments and protective supports to reduce the risks of any potential flooding."

He explained that "the measures were conducted under the direct field supervision of Anbar Civil Defense Director, Legal Colonel Mustafa Mahmoud Thalj, and in the presence of the director of the Ramadi police department, the director of Anbar Agriculture, and the director of the Water Resources Directorate in the province."

He pointed out that "as part of the legal and regulatory measures, official commitments were obtained from those encroaching on the river basin to prevent any obstructions to water flow, and to emphasize the need to remove violations that may affect public safety."

Shakir confirmed "the continuation of field efforts in coordination with service and security departments to monitor the water situation continuously and to take necessary measures according to the developments in the levels of the Euphrates River."

These measures are part of the preventive preparations to limit potential risks and enhance readiness and response to any emergencies that may arise from rising water levels.
