The Baghdad Municipality announced the completion of a project to construct two sports fields in the neighborhoods of Al-Sadr and Al-Shu'la, as part of its plans to develop sports infrastructure and provide modern facilities for citizens and athletes, in addition to enhancing the municipality's resources through their investment.
The Director General of the Projects Department in the municipality, engineer Yaqdan Adnan Al-Waeli, stated in a statement followed by the Video News Agency that the completed fields include Al-Hadi Stadium in the Kasra and Atash area of Al-Sadr City, and the second stadium in Al-Shu'la, which was executed by a Turkish company with a modern design and a capacity of up to five thousand spectators.
He added that the Al-Shu'la Stadium includes a football field and facilities for various sports events and activities, noting that the Projects Department has completed the construction of both stadiums and handed them over to the municipalities of Al-Shaab and Al-Shu'la, each according to its location, to complete the preparation of the surrounding areas in preparation for their opening.
Regarding their management, Al-Waeli clarified that no final decision has been issued in this regard yet, affirming that the stadiums will remain under the ownership of the Baghdad Municipality and will not be handed over to any other party.
He pointed out that the proposed approach involves investing in them through leasing and organizing events and sports activities in cooperation with various entities, ensuring the benefits from the new facilities and contributing to maximizing the municipality's revenues.
