Anbar Alliance member Ahmad Abdullah al-Dulaimi confirmed today, Thursday, that what he described as Iranian victories against the United States has contributed to weakening the position of President Donald Trump, considering that his plans related to controlling the Strait of Hormuz have not achieved their goals.
Al-Dulaimi stated, in a statement followed by the news video agency, that the U.S. aggression against Iran was one of the main factors that, in his opinion, contributed to the decline in Trump's popularity, noting that his economic policies and increased tax burdens on citizens sparked a state of internal rejection and affected his political future.
He added that the results of the recent U.S. elections were expected in light of the decline in popular support for Trump, pointing out that his statements and military movements did not succeed, as he expressed, in achieving the goals of overthrowing the Iranian regime or controlling the Strait of Hormuz.
Al-Dulaimi continued that, according to his assessment, Iranian missile capabilities have shifted the course of military confrontation and surprised the U.S. administration and its military leaders, noting that what he described as the losses suffered by U.S. forces contributed to increasing political pressure on Trump.
He pointed out that the defeat of the Republicans in the recent midterm elections and the control of the Democrats over both the House of Representatives and the Senate represent, from his perspective, a political blow to Trump and a development that reflects the repercussions of the confrontation with Iran.
