The absurdities did not stop there; in response to a journalist's question about the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Trump claimed in a bewildered tone that he did not want to say that an agreement had been reached, but he sees the passage as "open now" and that Washington "controls it," in a statement that seems more fitting for a movie than the complex and navigational reality of the region.
Continuing with his rosy tune, Trump spoke about negotiations with Tehran, claiming that he is personally overseeing them and that things are "going well."
