Iraq welcomed today, Thursday, the decision of the foreign ministers of Canada, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom to impose restrictions on trade in goods with Israel.
The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by Video News Agency Video that Iraq considers this decision a correct step towards supporting international efforts aimed at deterring settlement occupation policies as it constitutes a blatant violation of international legitimacy decisions and a gross assault on the rights of the Palestinian people. It also represents a positive development regarding the enhancement of respect for international law and principles of international legitimacy.
The Foreign Ministry expressed hope that other countries would take similar steps in this context, contributing to the cessation of settlement activities and ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people.
