The opinions of the Baghdad street varied regarding the government's ability to restrict weapons to the hands of the state.

The popular circles in the capital Baghdad have witnessed extensive discussions regarding the deadline for the restriction of arms to the state, which is set to end on the thirtieth of September of this year, amidst a division in citizens' opinions between those in favor of the decision and those opposing its implementation at the present time.

A citizen told the Video News Agency that the geopolitical developments and regional events surrounding the area have cast their shadows over the Iraqi street.

He pointed out that the current time is not suitable for the implementation of disarmament amid the volatile conditions, expressing his support for the decision if the security situation stabilizes completely, confirming that the execution of the step depends on the understandings between the government and the leaders of the factions.

Other citizens emphasized the necessity of moving forward with the procedures to restrict arms to the official security forces and ending the presence of uncontrolled weapons among tribes and parties. 

They affirmed that the spread of arms has led to loss of life and threatened community stability since 2003, calling on the people to support the security forces of the army and police to succeed in this file and provide security and safety in all areas of the country.
