Basra operations bring down traffickers and seize narcotic materials near the Shalamcheh crossing.

Today, Thursday, the Iraqi army arrested two suspects for drug trafficking and seized marijuana and thousands of narcotic pills near the Shalamja border crossing in Basra Governorate.

The Basra Operations Command said in a statement received by the Video News Agency that the operation came in implementation of the directives of the Chief of Staff of the Army to pursue drug traffickers and dealers, following accurate intelligence information about the presence of the traffickers.

It added that a joint task force was formed from the forces present at the control and the anti-drug detachments in Shatt al-Arab, resulting in the seizure of about 200 grams of narcotic marijuana and 1,408 varied narcotic pills.

It continued that legal actions were taken against the suspects and they were handed over to the relevant authorities to complete the investigations.
