Local media in Poland reported today, Thursday, that one person was killed and at least four others were injured in a knife attack that occurred inside a large monastery in the south of the country.
The police stated in a statement obtained by "Video News Agency" that a 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained following the attack that took place in the city of Jarosław. The motives behind the attack were not immediately clear, according to "Reuters".
Local media mentioned that the attack occurred in a small Benedictine nuns' convent within the grounds of the large monastery.
Sister Barbara Dendur told the state television channel "TVN Info": "We know that Father Stanislaus has died, and Father Marek is in critical condition, and there are other victims, but we do not have further details."
She added, "When I arrived, there was total panic, and I saw young people coming out of the center saying 'crazy, crazy,'" while the police said their officers were on site and that they were investigating the incident.
