Ghalibaf mocks American economic turmoil: We will bring you back to the 1970s.

Iranian Shura Council President Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf  mocked the economic turmoil currently facing the United States on Thursday.

In a post reviewed by the Video news agency, Ghalibaf said, "Oh America! Congratulations on your 10-year bond yield reaching 5.1%! Well done, and in fact, you should hold a celebratory event as conditions will worsen over the next two years."

He added, condemning American policies: "Did you want to bring Iran back to the 1970s? Didn't anyone tell you that confronting Iran is not a task for amateurs? And now we are taking you back to the 1970s with all its high interest rates and soaring fuel prices and a diesel shortage, so enjoy this journey down memory lane."

This statement comes at a time when the yield on U.S. 10-year Treasury bonds has returned to its highest level since 2007, while the yield on 30-year bonds reached 5.4%, a level not seen since 2004.
