The Islamic Dawa Party confirmed today, Wednesday, that maintaining sovereignty requires raising the readiness of the armed forces and achieving economic and financial independence.
The party stated in a statement received by the Video News Agency that "our proud people affirm today their adherence to accomplished sovereignty, expressing their position in harmony with their history of revolutions, heroic uprisings, and just battles in defense of their land, dignity, and independence of their homeland, which has always been, thanks to the bravery of its sons, resistant to foreign occupations and a graveyard for invaders."
He added, "On this occasion, Iraqis proudly and with honor recall the anniversary of achieving national sovereignty and the completion of the foreign forces' withdrawal from Iraqi land on 31/12/2011 when the last American soldier left Iraq after entering in 2003."
He continued: "This day witnessed the clearance of national territory from foreign forces, marking a significant and national achievement in the eternal days of Iraq's history, as the spirit of rejection, jihad, and resistance runs through generations like blood in veins, revealing the true nature of this proud people and its immense capability to repel anyone wishing harm to Iraq and any covetousness over its land and resources." He clarified that "Iraq is keen on establishing stable and balanced relations with all countries based on mutual and intertwined interests, mutual respect, and preserving the national security of all, and this should be its message today to all peoples and states."
He indicated that "maintaining the sovereignty of the homeland requires raising the readiness of the armed forces in all its forms, along with all armed and law-abiding security apparatuses and forces, accelerating their armament and fulfilling their needs for advanced weapons and equipment, alongside achieving economic and financial independence, and upholding and protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens."
He pointed out that "the pluralistic federal democratic political system is for everyone, without monopoly, discrimination, or marginalization, and all components should feel this partnership in reality, decision-making, and fair distribution of national wealth," noting that "this system guarantees the unity of the country and the rights of all and the continuity of their roles, in a fair and balanced manner, in governing, and the commitment to preserve and develop this system is a collective national responsibility."
He confirmed that "national dialogue among the components and their political representatives must turn into a stable political norm, to advance the responsibility of protecting the country and ensuring its security and stability, establishing a strong national relationship, and adopting a national covenant charter that affirms the constants and priorities at this stage, and supports the constitution and the consensus under it, rather than being a substitute for it."
He completed, "Security in Iraq is one and indivisible, and terrorism and ISIS, regardless of their different names or new manifestations, pose an imminent threat to all, without exception, from north to south, which necessitates all components standing united behind all security institutions confronting this challenge, and mobilizing efforts to deal with the terrorist threat firmly and decisively in every inch of our country."
He continued, "The stage and its challenges necessitate supporting the government and standing by it to achieve reform, continuing the fight against corruption, advancing lagging services, addressing the escalating economic crisis, and empowering it with protection, guidance, and advice to perform its responsibilities in a way that fulfills citizens' legitimate aspirations," noting that "this requires hastening the completion of the cabinet formation according to the roadmap of political entitlements for the blocs."
He pointed out that "the supreme religious authority is the axis of the unity of Iraqis with all their components, spectrums, and directions, and is the source of their great trust and respect, and it should be adhered to in order to preserve the national gains for all and enhance civil peace and brotherly coexistence among Iraqis."
He emphasized: "Those who defend the sovereignty of the country and contribute to achieving this national achievement should be appreciated for their sacrifices and roles, which will be written in letters of light in the honor record and in the history and living memory of our dear people."
He concluded: "Greetings and peace to all the martyrs of Iraq who stood against the tyranny of the Ba'ath and defended the homeland and its sovereignty."
