The 20th Asian Games concluded in Japan, hosted by the cities of Aichi and Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, with Iraqi participation leading to the achievement of five colored medals, including two silvers and three bronzes.

Iraq participated in the Games across seven sports: athletics, weightlifting, teqball, boxing, wrestling, rowing, and jiu-jitsu, with the five medals coming from the federations of teqball, weightlifting, and wrestling.

Iraqi athlete Ali Ammar Yasser achieved a remarkable accomplishment by breaking the world record in weightlifting with a lift of 219 kg.

The event concluded with a closing ceremony held at Meizhou Park's main stadium in Nagoya, attended by officials and sports representatives, showcasing the participating delegations and featuring artistic and folkloric performances that reflected aspects of Japanese heritage and culture.

The ceremony ended with the handing over of the Asian Games flag to Qatar, which will host the 21st edition in 2030, after 15 days of competitions that witnessed the setting of Asian and world records in several sports.
