The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Monday, the issuance of a court ruling sentencing the former head of the Municipal Property Valuation Committee in the Hilla Municipality to imprisonment for deliberately committing acts that violate his job duties.

The commission stated in a statement received by "Video News Agency" that the Hilla Misdemeanor Court, which is specialized in integrity cases, issued the judgment against the convicted; based on his assessment of an alternative piece of land at a value lower than its true worth, despite its location in a commercial area, as well as incorrectly recording its use as residential instead of commercial, contrary to the applicable regulations and instructions; which caused harm to public funds.

It added that the court, after reviewing the evidence and proofs obtained in the case, including oversight reports and a report from the Babel Investigation Office affiliated with the commission, found them sufficient to convict him of the crime of willfully neglecting his job duties with the intent of obtaining personal benefit at the expense of the state; thus decided to sentence him to imprisonment, based on the provisions of Article (331) of the Penal Code No. (111 of 1969), as amended.

It continued that the court ruling included granting the affected party the right to refer to civil courts to claim compensation after the judgment becomes final.
