The senior agent of the Ministry of Interior, Hussein Al-Awadi, today Thursday, directed to double efforts to combat currency smuggling and counterfeiting, as well as to address the foreign phenomena affecting Iraqi society.
This came during his meeting with the director of the Organized Crime Directorate and its section heads in Baghdad and the provinces, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Interior Ministry received by the "Video News Agency".
During the meeting, Al-Awadi emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts and relying on reliable sources of information to confront those promoting sectarianism and the foreign phenomena affecting society, and to combat currency smuggling and counterfeiting, money laundering, oil smuggling, the trade of unlicensed medications, and spoiled meat, in order to preserve the country's security and the safety of its citizens.
This directive comes simultaneously with the security forces seizing counterfeit currencies, both Iraqi dinars and US dollars, during recent field operations, and arresting suspects found in possession of them and confiscating the counterfeit currency.
