The Ministries of Trade and Agriculture continue their regulatory and field procedures to monitor the movement of local markets and curb the rise in food prices, while ensuring the availability of essential goods for citizens amidst the ongoing increase in vegetable and fruit prices.
Trade Minister Mustafa Nizar Al-Ani stated in a statement reported by the News Video Agency that the ministry's regulatory bodies are conducting daily campaigns to follow up on the markets, in coordination with the security agencies in the Ministry of Interior and the National Security Agency, in addition to preparing price bulletins and monitoring sales activities.
He added that the ministry will not hesitate to take legal action against violators, pointing out that the government has supported the "Hypermarket Cooperation" markets by providing competitive price discounts to curb cases of exploitation and commercial greed.
He indicated that the government has taken measures that include halting the collection of customs duties and taxes on food and red and white meat, coinciding with the decision to change the dollar exchange rate, confirming the continued follow-up on decisions aimed at stabilizing the market and ensuring the abundance of goods.
In this context, the Ministry of Agriculture has intensified its field tours to monitor the prices of agricultural products and the quantities available, and to address the reasons for the increases and changes occurring in the markets.
Yasir Hassan Saleh Al-Ani, General Director of the Planning and Follow-Up Department in the ministry, explained that the tours include the vegetable sale outlets to monitor prices, listed products, marketing mechanisms, and sales activities.
He affirmed the continuation of field monitoring and coordination with relevant authorities to identify the reasons for price increases and to track the availability of agricultural products, contributing to enhancing market stability and alleviating the living burdens on citizens.
