The Erbil Police Directorate issued new instructions today, Thursday, prohibiting the use of inappropriate language, directing insults, or publishing content that violates public morals on social media platforms, warning that legal action will be taken against violators.
The directorate's spokesperson, Karzan Saleh, stated in a comment followed by the Video News Agency that these instructions come in the context of preserving social values and traditions and limiting negative phenomena that may cause family and social problems, in addition to reducing associated crimes.
He added that legal measures will specifically target content creators and live streamers on the "TikTok" platform if they violate established rules and guidelines.
He clarified that the Erbil Police have granted all live streamers a 15-day period to review the directorate's headquarters to open official files for them and sign legal commitments to comply with the instructions and general regulations for using digital platforms.
He emphasized that failure to review the directorate within the specified period will place the accounts of violators under direct legal responsibility.
