The Israeli occupation army continues, for the second day, to raid the Qalandiya camp north of occupied Jerusalem, amid a broad campaign of incursions and arrests, turning homes into military barracks, and recording injuries among Palestinians.
On Thursday, Muhammad Aslan, the head of the popular committee for the services of the Qalandiya camp, affiliated with the Palestine Liberation Organization, told Anadolu Agency that "the occupation army's incursion is still ongoing for the second day, with more operations of raiding and mistreating citizens, breaking into homes, breaking their contents, and stealing money and gold jewelry from some of them."
He added that the situation inside the camp is "extremely difficult," and that the occupation forces continue to push military reinforcements and carry out raids on homes.
He explained that the Israeli army has turned about eight homes into military barracks, while the number of detainees so far has reached around 20 Palestinians, with expectations of a higher toll as the military operation continues.
Aslan reported that three serious injuries had been recorded due to beatings, including one with a skull fracture, in addition to more than 60 injuries from suffocation due to inhaling tear gas.
He continued, denouncing: "It is shameful for the world to see what is happening in the Qalandiya camp and not to take action, and we hope the international community wakes up from its silence in the face of the torture and maltreatment that the residents are subjected to."
For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society stated in a statement that its teams have dealt with ten injuries resulting from assaults by the Israeli army, in addition to evacuating several medical cases.
It added that the army forces prevented its teams from entering the camp during the night hours, forcing them to leave, despite the presence of medical cases they were unable to reach.
In a field development, local sources told Anadolu Agency that the Israeli army evacuated the home of citizen Muhammad Jamil Ammar before planting explosives inside it and detonating parts of it, then arresting him.
On Wednesday morning, the Israeli army launched a large-scale military operation in the Qalandiya camp and the town of Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem, which included raiding dozens of homes, turning some into military barracks, preventing the performance of the Fajr prayer in the camp's mosques, in addition to arrests and assaults on the residents.
Yoram Halevi, the coordinator of Israeli occupation activities in the Palestinian territories, said on the "Facebook" platform on Wednesday: "The army has begun implementing a large-scale operation in Qalandiya camp."
Halevi did not specify the duration of the operation, claiming that it targets "armed men, hostile infrastructure, and the phenomenon of weapon possession and trafficking."
Daily, Israeli forces raid cities and towns in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
Since the beginning of the genocide being committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army and settlers have intensified their assaults in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the death of more than 1,182 Palestinians, injury to about 13,000, and the arrest of nearly 24,000.
The assaults also include the demolition of homes and establishments, the burning of mosques, the leveling of agricultural lands, preventing farmers from accessing their farms, displacing Palestinians, and the expansion of settlements on their land.
Palestinians warn that Israel is paving the way, through these assaults, to officially announce the annexation of the West Bank, which means undermining the possibility of establishing a state of Palestine as stipulated in relevant United Nations resolutions.
In 1948, Israel was established on Palestinian lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs that committed massacres and caused the displacement of no less than 750,000 Palestinians, before Tel Aviv occupied the rest of the lands and refused to withdraw from them.
